The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of loadshedding case and suo motu notice on approval of 450 CNG stations during the tenure of the last PPP-led coalition government. A two-member bench of the Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed issued notices to fertiliser manufacturers to file replies in the matter.
During hearing, all the provinces submitted reports to the bench regarding prevailing CNG situations in pursuance of the court's earlier order, whereas the counsel for National Transmission Distribution Company (NTDC), Iftikhar Gillani, told the court that Council of Common Interest (CCI) approved the Energy Policy on July 31. He further said that Federal government had to announce a new energy policy.
The bench observed that in accordance with the court' earlier order in the current matter, fertiliser manufacturers had to reduce the cost of fertilisers they got after subsidy on the gas. The court also sought a report from fertilisers units on gas and fertiliser prices, including international and local market price difference. Hearing of case was adjourned for two weeks.
