The maximum amount of Sadqa-e-Fitr (Fitrana) has been fixed at Rs 100 per person this year which would be distributed to the poor and needy. Talking to this scribe Maulvi Kifayatullah said that Fitrana has been ascertained with the prices of wheat, dates and Kishmish, according to which the amount was calculated at Rs 100.
Before the Eidul Fitr prayer, he said that every adult Muslim who possesses food and money in excess of his needs and those of his family must pay Fitrana. If the person is a breadwinner he should also pay Sadqa-e-Fitr for his dependants such as his wife, children, dependent relatives or servants. It was essential to pay the amount of Fitrana within a few days before the end of Ramazan. However, it is preferable to pay up to Eid prayer so that the poor can enjoy the Eid happily.
