Back-to-back four bomb blasts at four wine stores in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Defence areas late on Tuesday spread panic across the city. According to police, the first blast occurred at a wine shop in Khyaban-e-Muslim. Following the incident, rescuers and law enforcers rushed to the spot. Police further said that the blast caused damage to a bike and the owner of which had been taken into custody for interrogation.
After a brief period, another bomb went off at a wine shop located in the same area. Few minutes later, another wine shop was targeted at Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. Fortunately, the blast did not cause any damage but created severe gridlocks on Rashid Minhas road for hours. After a 15-mintue break, another bomb was exploded at a wine shop located at Gizri area. AIG Ghulam Thebu said that all three wine shops at Defence were owned by a single person. He said that nobody had so far claimed responsibility of these blasts but the involvement of banned outfits could not be ruled out. He also said that no one was reported hurt in the series of blasts. Meanwhile, officials of the Bomb Disposal Squad claimed that culprits used one kilogram of high explosives in all four bombs, which were detonated with timer devices.
