Brazilian Ambassador Alfredo Leoni called on Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain here at Ministry of Defence Production on Wednesday. The ambassador congratulated the Federal Minister on winning the elections and acquiring the important portfolio of Minister for Defence Production.
The Ambassador said the scope of relations between the two countries is quite vast. The need is to collaborate, extend support and establish relations in areas of Defence Production. He said that co-operation in other fields is also the priority of the Brazilian Government. In the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the military relations. Both sides have exchanged visits in this regard. Pakistan and Brazil enjoy good relations, therefore visits and exchanges between the two countries can prove beneficial in understanding the work mechanics of both the countries.
This was stated by Secretary Ministry of Defence Production, Lieutenant General Tanvir Tahir (Retd) present at the meeting. The Secretary added that Brazil is hub of interaction and Pakistan welcomes Brazilian interest in our defence market. More frequent interaction between Brazil and Pakistan can draw meaningful contacts which can be beneficial for both countries. He added that some contracts of the past needs to pace up and materialise. Pakistan's Defence Industry can offer a wide variety of defence equipment having key features of low cost, high quality, sophistication and precision. Therefore, strengthening of contacts between the two countries will help gain future collaborations.
The Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain stressed on the capability and capacity of our defence industry. He lauded the effort of Brazil in providing support to the agriculture sector of Pakistan. He stressed that diplomatic relations between Brazil and Pakistan are historic and the two countries have positive and strong relations which can translate into strong military relations in future. At the end the ambassador thanked the minister for a detailed and candid briefing. He extended the invitation to the Minister for Defence Production to visit Brazil for strengthening and continuity of relations between the two countries.-PR
