Fawad Alam ‘broke down in tears’ after exclusion from squad once again
Pakistan’s middle order batsman Fawad Alam, who is consistently performing in domestic circuit, reportedly broke down in tears after failing to make into Pakistan's squad for England tour.
Citing some eye witnesses, Geo News reported that Alam, who has continuously been ignored by the Pakistan Cricket Board, broke down into tears after he found out that despite his promising performance in the domestic circuit, he had once again been ignored in the favour of younger and newer batsmen.
Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who had gone into the room to console Alam, could not hold back his tears either.
Back in 2014, fast bowler Wahab Riaz had been in a similar situation when coach Waqar Younis had dropped him from Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe.
Speaking to the media after the announcement of the squad, Head Coach Mickey Arthur said that it would be wrong to assume that he had something against Riaz and Alam. The decision might feel too harsh at the moment, but some decisions are made so that they can prove to be beneficial in the long run.
According to reports, there is hope in the future for Alam in finding a place in the national team.
At the end of the training camp, Fawad had been told not to be disheartened. However, criticism from former cricketers and media have put the PCB on the back foot.
