Protocol of cooperation with Turkey: Core committee on security, reforms formed
As per direction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab, a core committee has been constituted on security and reforms under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd). The other members of the committee are Home Secretary Inspector General of Police, Secretary Public Prosecution Addl CID, Punjab IG Prisons DGP PFSA, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, Dr Mustafa Head of Turkish Delegation and Special Secretary Home Department.
The core committee would examine and implement the protocol of co-operation signed between Pakistan and Turkey in September 2013 at the provincial level. The first meeting of the core committee was held at Lahore on Friday, which was presided over by Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd). Secretary Home gave a briefing on the agenda and those important areas for which protocol of co-operation has been signed.
The areas included on counter terrorism, crime scene investigation and forensic science technology and telecommunication, riot policing, traffic management and traffic control system, intelligence and others. A proposed activity plan was presented before the committee and different actions were discussed related to the plan. It was decided in the meeting that recommendations for reforms will be finalised with Turkish assistance.
The members decided to constitute working groups and sub-working groups that will perform the tasks. The core committee shall meet on weekly basis and submit progress report to the Chief Minister on fortnightly basis. Shuja Khanzada said that Turkey is our brother Islamic country and we will take all possible benefits from this protocol of co-operation for the betterment of the masses. He said that Turkey has offered its full co-operation to Pakistan. The Minister said that special investigation is a backbone of policing system and we are taking full co-operation from Turkey to improve our special investigating action procedure.
