DCOs asked to ensure display of rate lists at shops

Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Aslam has directed District Co-ordination Officers (DCOs) all over the province to ensure display of rate lists of essential items, particularly separate rates of vegetable and fruits, conspicuously in the shops. He issued these instructions while addressing the meeting of DCOs here on Saturday, disclosed an official.
Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Co-ordination Saira Afzal Tarar, Additional Chief Secretary Mirza Sohail Aamir, Secretary Industries Irfan Ali, Secretary Home Azam Suleman Khan, Secretary Health Hassan Iqbal, Secretary Local Government Jawad Rafique Malik, representatives of World Health Organisation besides concerned officers attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary said strict action should be taken against those who did not display rate lists issued by the market committees. He also directed that no compromise should be made on the quality of edible items and sale on fixed prices. "All necessary steps should be taken for ensuring sale of essential items at fixed prices for providing relief to the people," he added.
While directing DCOs for effectively monitoring the ongoing anti-polio campaign in the province, Javed Aslam said a special survey should be conducted for getting public reaction about the performance of polio vaccination teams of health department. He said administering polio vaccine should be ensured to the children below the age of five years for protecting them from polio and vaccination campaign should be accelerated in all districts. He directed the Punjab Health Department to take more result-oriented steps regarding polio vaccination so that the target of making Pakistan polio-free country could be achieved.
Provincial Secretary Industries, Secretary Health and Secretary Local Government gave detailed briefings regarding prices of essential items, steps taken by health department regarding polio campaign and delimitation for local bodies' elections respectively. DCOs also informed about the steps taken regarding prices of edible items and anti-polio campaign in their respective districts.
