Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has published three special editions of children literature namely 'Bachon Ka Adab' including poems and prose translated from foreign and regional languages into Urdu. An official of PAL told APP here on Sunday, it was for the first time in the history of sub-continent that such kind of literature had been published for children in Urdu.
He informed that the first edition consisted of translation of famous foreign languages literature into Urdu while the second edition was comprised of translated poems of regional languages into Urdu. The third edition was comprised on moral based story of different languages in Urdu, he further added.
"Besides the literature of foreign languages, the folk tales of regional languages are also included in these editions", PAL official said. An Urdu translation of children stories written in Brahvi, Balochi, Pashto, Sindhi, Hindko, Punjabi, Saraiki, Pothohari, Pahari and Kashmiri were also part of 'Bachon Ka Adab,' he added. He informed the best quality literature was written in past had been selected for these editions while the special emphasis had also been given to the writings of renowned contemporary writers of the era. These were the most comprehensive editions for children literature in Urdu, he stated.
