Strengthening investigation of criminal cases: 200 law graduates to be appointed in police department, says Memon
Sindh Government has decided to appoint 200 law graduates in police department for strengthening the investigation of criminal cases. This was stated by Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon while briefing the media about the decisions taken in a meeting over law and order chaired by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah here on Monday.
The meeting discussed matters related to law and order and performance of targeted operation being carried out in the metropolis. He said that the recruitment of law graduates in police investigation will help in preparing sound cases for trial in the courts of law.
The Minister said that implementation on Code of Conduct, prepared for collection of hides/ skins on Eid-ul- Azha would be ensured and strict action will be taken on its violation. He informed that the meeting expressed satisfaction over the outcomes of targeted operation being carried out against criminals in Karachi. To a question about the duration of the operation, he said that it could be long term and will continue till elimination of each and every criminal from the city. He hoped that environment of fear will be ended soon as a result of the targeted actions of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) against the criminal elements. Giving details about the performance of police and rangers, Sharjeel Memon said that so far the Police have arrested 5909 accused in 3901 raids, 28 others were killed in 363 encounters while 1338 pistols, 37 rifles, 2 LMG guns, 25 Kalashnikovs, 47 shot guns and 67 hand grenades were recovered from the accused.
He said that rangers arrested 494 suspects involved in cases of terrorism, targeted killings, kidnapping and extortion in 406 raids conducted in various areas of the city and recovered 849 weapons of different calibre. He said that 1948 criminal cases were challaned in different courts including Anti-Terrorism Courts. The Minister further said that the CID police also arrested 91 suspects in targeted actions. He said that the meeting attended by all the concerned officers appreciated the performance of LEAs for maintaining law and order in the city.
