On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, the Excise and Taxation Department launched computerised system in big cities and now the people can complete their vehicle registration at completely computerised system without any delay or hazards, whereas the computerised system will shortly be launched throughout the province.
Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of newly established Motor Registration Office in Model Town (Extension) on Monday. Mujtaba directed the E&T Department officials to utilise all available resources for convenience of the common man. He directed that more new Motor Registration Offices should be established in various corners of Lahore.
He also directed to work hard for achieving of target of collection of taxes and accelerate pace of recovery. He further directed to improve the registration as well as taxation system in order to provide maximum facilities to the people. The Minister said Punjab government as per vision of the Chief Minister Punjab was providing modern facilities to the citizens for depositing tax and Motor Registration. He said after computerisation of all motor branches and web based tax calculator, now the verification of amounts deposited through SMS had been started in Lahore. He said "when any person sends SMS of his vehicle registration number on 8070, he would receive automatically the SMS of the deposited amount with all details of deposited dues."
He said the Excise Department had also launched Android Based Application under which Android Based Mobile Phones had been provided to the inspectors deputed on road checking on which Android Based Application was installed which would be linked with computerised database of Motor Branch Lahore in the first phase. He said the service would be provided throughout Punjab under a phased programme. Secretary Excise and Taxation Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Director E&T Lahore Chaudhry Masood ul Haq and officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
