Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) celebrated 44th World Standard Day on Monday with the objective to achieve international standards to develop products of optimal quality. Theme of this year is "International standards ensure positive change", which exemplifies the commitment on behalf of the government towards standardization.
International standards bring technological, economic and societal benefits, thus ensuring technological modernisation and promoting social and environmental compliance practices that increase the health and safety of the world and its success, said Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid. "These are the basis, upon which developing nations build their economies and compete in the global market."
Zahid Hamid said these standards help to harmonise technical specifications of products and services making industry more efficient, adding thereby removing barriers to international trade. World Standards Day is an annual celebration recognising the collaborative efforts that go into the development of standards, both at national and international level, Federal Secretary for S & T Kamran Ali said on the occasion of World Standards Day. He said it is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of standardization to the global economy and human lives. "PSQCA needs to ensure sustainable efforts regarding standards and their implementation within the industry of Pakistan."
