Owners of private hospitals, guest houses, and students' hostels have expressed resentment over forcibly closing down of their businesses under a campaign banning commercial activities in residential localities of Peshawar. Speaking at a news conference at the Press Club on Monday, All Guest Houses Association (AGHA) President, Abdul Makeeyat, said that the Peshawar Development Authority(PDA) had launched a crackdown and sealed private guest houses, hospitals and students hostels for putting complete ban on commercial activities in University Town and Hayatabad,.
He termed the decision totally unjust. He informed that more than 2,000 employees would be rendered jobless by the decision, which was anti-masses policy of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf led-provincial government. Accompanied by Akhtar Zeb Swati, and Baharam Khan, the association president said they have been regularly paying all kind of taxes, including utilities as commercial consumers that makes the action unjustified and illogical. He said that park Road in University town is completely commercial area, only few homes are exception.
