The met office has advised wheat growers to start sowing crop from November 1 to November 20 to receive an optimum yield. "The best suitable time for wheat cultivation is November 1 to November 20," the office said in its 10-day advisory till November 20, saying farmers of wheat growing areas are advised to sow the crop in time to get an the optimum yield.
It said farmers of rain-fed areas should sow the Rabi crops during October 15 to November 15. "After this time the yield of wheat crop decreases gradually," it warns. Similarly, farmers of cotton crop areas are advised to prepare their field for incoming Rabi crops and complete sowing process before December 15, saying afterward the wheat yield decreases gradually.
"Farmers are advised to cultivate winter vegetables in time so that present soil moisture may fully be utilised," it advised. In Punjab, weather is expected to remain mainly hot and humid weather in its most parts during the advisory period. It said, however, rain-thundershowers are likely hit at isolated places in the province till November 15.
