Former president Asif Ali Zardari, on Thursday, said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's all steps towards progress of the country would be supported. Addressing his party workers at Naudero House, Zardari said: "If Nawaz Sharif took positive steps, Pakistan People's Party will extend complete backing to them." However, he added that some other course of action would be looked at in case the incumbent government failed to address the challenges.
He said the existing government unlike the previous PPP allied government has majority in the parliament and it should make good policies and resolve the issues facing the nation assuring all out support by his party in this context. Former president said that had there been no operation in Karachi, the situation in the city would also have turned like the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the situation in Karachi could be worsened if the PPP did not support operation.
He said powerhouses would be established at district level in Sindh. "People's Party wants such progress in the country where youth, Bilawal and his children can make progress," he added. Asif Ali Zardari said the PPP government completed its tenure by following reconciliation policy, now the PML-N government has majority and it has mandate to take decisions in the best interest of the country. He said Pakistan was passing through a war-like situation due to Afghanistan and it needs to get out of this situation, adding that "we don't want religious or sectarian conflict in the country as the militants could take advantage of our confrontations."
Zardari said he had asked the Sindh government for new recruitments and reforms in police to improve law and order situation in the province, adding the PPP's provincial government would generate low-priced electricity and it would make Sindh a role model for other provinces. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Faryal Talpur and several party leaders were also present on this occasion. Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah called on Asif Ali Zardari and discussed with him the overall situation in the province. They also discussed reshuffle in Sindh cabinet and Bilawal's future election contest.
