Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Sunday claimed to have arrested over 90 suspects, including target killer in separate raids while a member of banned outfist was killed in an encounter at Orangi Town. According to official sources, an alleged member of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was killed in an encounter. Sources said that Pakistan Rangers on a tip-off reached the said place where TTP men opened indiscriminate gunshots on them. In retaliation, one of the members was killed while rest of the other managed to flee under the cover of heavy gunshots.
Separately, Rangers also claimed to have arrested 63 alleged criminals including Lyari gangsters and criminals affiliated with political groups.
According to Rangers' spokesperson, the arrests were made during targeted raids in various parts of the metropolis including Dera Rehmat, Hazara Chowk, Memon Goth, Old Muzaffarabad Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Mehran Town, Memon Society, Singu Lane, Mohalla Wachani Chakiwara, Behar Colony, Frontier Morr, Gulshan-e-Zia, Taiser Town, New Karachi, Mujahid Colony, Nazimabad No 4, Moosa Colony, Hyderi Market, Altaf Nagar, Natha Khan Goth, Drigh Colony, New Sabzi Mandi, Kalakot, Lyari General Hospital areas. All arrested suspects were involved in heinous crimes and 162 weapons of different calibres including sub-machineguns (SMGs), rifles, huge cache of hand grenades, and large quantity of narcotics were also recovered.
Similarly, Rangers during targeted operation at Metrovile area nabbed 13 criminals and recovered 125 weapons of different calibres.
Three alleged target killers were apprehended from block 5 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. The raid was conducted on the basis of information provided by detained suspect. The arrested target killers were identified as Salman, Farooq and Babar. One woman, namely Sonia was also detained during the raid. A Kalashnikov, two 222 rifles and 9mm pistol were also recovered.
Two political workers namely Kashif and Faisal Naseer were taken into custody in separate raids at Moosa Colony and Shamsi Society.
Meanwhile, district East and West police claimed to have nabbed 21 and 16 suspects, respectively and recovered weapons from their possession.
