Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Monday claimed to have arrested over 70 felons including Lyari gangsters and extortionists in separate raids in different areas of the metropolis. According to police sources, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) conducted raids in different areas of the city that led to the arrests of three Lyari gangsters including Rafiq, Anwar and Hamza and two extortionists Umar and Waqar.
Weapons were also recovered from their possession. Similarly, New Karachi police also claimed to have arrested a political worker, Asim alias Raju and recovered hand grenade and a pistol from him. Some nine suspected criminals were arrested from Zia colony. The accused were identified as Furqan, Naeem, Ubaid, Saleem, Zuhaib, Raees Umar, Hameed, Ayub and Ilyas. They said that all of them are street criminals. Six drugs peddlers namely Haji Rehman, Ameer, Asghar Khan, Muhammad Yar, Khanullah and Usman were nabbed from Sharafi Goth area and police recovered two kilograms hashish and weapons from them.
