US government would utilise all available resources for promotion of investment and industrialisation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, says Acting US Consul General in Peshawar, Evan Felsing here on Wednesday. The diplomat informed that United States Agency for International Development is carrying out several projects in various sectors in KP, particularly in promotion of economic and commercial activities along with development of hydro-power generation in KP.
This, he stated while addressing members of business community during visit to Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Wednesday. SCCI Chief Zahidullah Shinwari, while speaking on the occasion urged the US government to make efforts for up-gradation of industrial estates and improvement of infrastructure along with investments in hydro-power generation in terrorism-affected KP.
Chamber's Vice Presidents, Mohammad Shafiq, Mohammad Taimoor Shah, members of executive committee were present during the visit of Acting US Consul General at the SCCI. Besides, presidents and heads of traders' unions, industrialists, and businessmen also attended the meeting. "The generation of employment is eminent for elimination of terrorism in KP", says SCCI chief. He added the US government and its Aid Agency are playing important role in this regard. He appreciated the role and financial assistance of USAID for coping with current energy crisis, promotion of education, and business activities in this region.
SCCI president urged the US government to play role for industrialisation and attracting more investments, for poverty alleviation in terrorism-affected Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Evan Flesing, US Acting Consul General in Peshawar, assured US government would utilize all available resources for promotion of investment and industrialisation in KP. He informed that USAID was keen taking measures for promotion of business activities and development of hydro-power generation there.
He furthermore said US was providing all kinds of assistance for establishment of peace and in the ongoing war against terrorism. He assured the steps would be taken for further promotion of bilateral trade relations between US and Pakistan. On the occasion, both the sides agreed to take steps for promotion of mutual trade relations, exchange of business/trade delegations, industrialisation under the USAID projects, co-operation in hydro-power generation, stabilising the economy, along with poverty alleviation.
