As many as 500 students awarded degrees during annual convocation of University of Peshawar (UoP) held here on Wednesday. As many as 26 students got gold medals for best performance in their respective departments, comprising 12 girls and 14 boys students. Besides, around 16 PhDs and 23 M Phil scholars were also awarded degrees.
During the convocation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor and also the Chancellor of UoP, Engineer Shaukatullah was the chief guest. Addressing the ceremony Governor Shaukatullah offered his deepest felicitations to the students, their teachers and parents. He also congratulated the university authorities for opening of a new department and institute "Peace and Conflict Studies", and termed it as a very good development. He resolved to take all-out measures to solve the financial problems of all the universities in KP. The VC while presenting the annual performance report said that more than 20,000 students were studying in the six different faculties comprising about 50 various departments.
Vice Chancellor of public and private universities of KP, Registrar University of Peshawar Dr Syed Fazl Hadi, member of syndicate and senate, deans of faculties, students and their parents participated in the ceremony.
