The Karachi Port handled 144,264 tonnes of cargo comprising 128,026 tonnes of import cargo and 16,238 tonnes of export cargo including 4,424 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 128,026 tonnes comprised 34,967 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,003 tonnes of general cargo; 34,709 tonnes of bulk cargo and 55,347 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 16,238 tonnes comprised 15,241 tonnes of containerised cargo; 114 tonnes of general cargo and 883 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 4,424 containers comprising 2,746 containers import and 1,678 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 714 of 20's and 987 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 29 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 500 of 20's and 142 of 40's loaded containers while 80 of 20's and 407 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are nine ships namely UASC Ramadi, MSC Didem, Elini-T, New Life, Al-Salam-II, Bunga Lucerne, Nadeem, Ikan Salmon and Union Hellen carrying containers, DAP, oil tankers, cement, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are nine vessels viz MSC Didem, APL Sokhna, Cosco Kawasaki, Tupi Maiden, Jupiter Charm, Spar Lynx, Bunga Lucerne, Beech-4 and MPP Triumph with containers, fertiliser, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are four ships namely MSC Xiamen, Cosco Kawasaki, Al Jalaa and MPP Triumph carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while four ships namely APL Sokhna, Rio De La Plata, Beech-4 and Eleni-T with containers, oil tanker and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There are three vessels viz Ikan Salmon, Bon Chem and Pontica with cement, naphtha and sulphur respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Rio Chicago, OOCL Jakarta, Alpine Minute, Stena Premium and Bao Flourish carrying containers, naphtha, mogas and steel respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 124,274 tonnes comprising 93,044 tonnes of import cargo and 31,230 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,750 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 93,044 tonnes includes 52,483 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,599 tonnes of palm oil; 2,300 tonnes of fertiliser; 3,121 tonnes of coke; 3,247 tonnes of chemical; 1,444 tonnes of wheat and 21,850 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 31,230 tonnes includes 830 tonnes of cement and 30,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 2,750 containers comprising 1,150 containers import and 1,600 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There is one ship namely MV Maple Crown with wheat sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV Jumme Trader, CV Mare Atlanticum and MV Thor Harmony with containers and steel coil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz CV Jumme Trader, CV Mare Atlanticum, MV Maple Crown, MV Thor Harmony, MV Vishva Vikas, MV Ginga Lynx, MV Ginga Kite and MT Karachi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, coke, wheat, fertiliser, chemical, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely MSC Didem, MSC Levina, Beacon Sin, Liberty N, Cardinal, Norgas Patricia, Lito, Chembulk Barcelona and Antjee carrying containers, wheat, LPG, fertiliser, chemicals, sunflower seeds, phosphoric acid and project cargo are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are three vessels viz CV MSC Didem, Norgas Patricia and Antjee with containers, chemicals and project cargo expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday. There is one ship namely MT Quetta carrying furnace oil due to arrive on Saturday, while two ships namely CV Maersk Detroit and MV Songa Wind carrying containers and chemicals are due to arrive on Sunday.
