Punjab Health Minister Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that due to the vigorous participation of the people in the programmes on Anti-Dengue Day, and energetic efforts by lady health workers, women workers and volunteers' surveillance teams, which are visiting every household, would go a long way in overcoming the dengue disease.
While talking to media representatives, Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that there is no problem with regard to admission and treatment of dengue patients in government hospitals, as isolation wards and High Dependency Units have more capacity than admitted patients.
He further said that on the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, free-of-cost medical facilities are being provided to dengue patients. The Minister warned that no negligence would be tolerated in this regard and said that continuous monitoring of government hospitals is being carried out.
Meanwhile, an Anti-dengue awareness walk was arranged, under the auspices of Health Department Punjab, in connection with Anti-Dengue Day, from the office of Director General Health to Punjab Assembly, which was lead by Special Secretary Health Punjab Babar Hayyat Tarrar, while it was attended by Director General Health Dr Zafar Ikran, Addl. Secretary Health Dr Anwar Janjoa, Addl. Director General Health Dengue Control Dr Jaffar Ilyas, officers, workers and a large number of nursing students.
