Chairman Town Emergency Response Committee and Member National Assembly Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad has said that dengue disease can be overcome by adopting preventive measures. He was addressing participants of walk at Samanabad Town held in connection with Anti-Dengue Day, which was also attended by MPA Mian Marghoob Ahmad, Education Secretary Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, officers of the town and a large number of citizens.
MNA Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad said that provision of healthy life and protection is the top priority of Punjab government and it is utilising all its resources in this regard. He said the participation of the people is essential to combat national issues like dengue, as desired results cannot be produced without vigorous and active participation of the people.
Addressing the participants of the walks, Education Secretary Abdul Jabbar Shaheen said that dengue cannot be eliminated, but it can be controlled and there is a need to work on war-footings against the disease as last year. He said dengue disease can be overcome by adopting cleanliness in houses and eliminating dengue breeding sites inside the houses. Anti-Dengue walk started at the office of the Samanabad town and ended at Smanabad Gol Chakar. After the walk, the members of Town Emergency Response Committee visited dengue camps in the union councils and provided necessary information against dengue by visiting every house, along with checking the performance of Anti-Dengue Larvae Surveillance Team.
