The Muharram-ul-Haram moon has not been sighted and the first of Muharram will now be on Wednesday, November 6. This was announced by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, Mufti Munib, here on Monday. Mufti Munib, who earlier chaired the meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, further stated that the Ashura will be on Friday, November 15.
A statement of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee said that the meetings of the provincial, district and zonal Ruet-i-Hilal Committees were also held at their respective headquarters. However, no evidence was received from anywhere in the country regarding the sighting of the moon. Therefore, it was unanimously decided that the first of Muharram will be on Wednesday, November 6. The participants of the meeting felicitated the nation on the commencement of the new Islamic year.
