Children studying in the public sector schools in Punjab will be provided clean drinking water within the next two months with the collaboration of the Punjab government and the NGOs from Britain. Through installation of state of the art water filtration plants having Nano-filtration and Reverse-osmosis technology, these water filtration plants will be capable of filtering 100 percent Arsenic and other heavy metals injurious to human health.
This was announced by the Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar while addressing the participants of the ceremony held on the opening of newly installed water filtration plants at Darul Shafqat for boys and girls being run by Anjuman Hamayat-e-Islam, Lahore. Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and President Anjuman Hamayat-e-Islam Justice (R) Manzoor Hussain Sial also participated in the discussions on the same occasion.
Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar criticised the former martial law regime and said that thousands of obsolete water filtration plants were installed in the Punjab eight years ago with the cost of billions of rupees but 80 percent of these obsolete plants are out of order today and the rest of these water filtration plants are useless due to negligence in the proper maintenance.
These water filtration plants are not capable of filtering the deadly poison "Arsenic" from the potable water which may cause cancer to the human beings utilising this so-called filtered water. The Governor intended to hold inquiry against the purchasers of such water filtration plants of obsolete technology. The Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan announced on the occasion to formulate "Lahore Citizen Community Forum" to monitor the maintenance work of all water filtration plants installed in the metropolis.
He informed that the audience that all girls and boys schools in public sector will be provided with the missing facilities in the province of Punjab till next year. These missing facilities include clean drinking water, electricity, washrooms, boundary wall and additional classrooms.
