The Lahore High Court here on Monday overruled the objections raised the office on a petition seeking disqualification of PPP senator and former law minister Babar Awan, for allegedly acquiring a bogus doctorate degree and contesting Senate elections from Punjab, where he was not a voter.
The office had questioned that petitioner was not an aggrieved party. A bar member Afaq Ahmad filed the petition, seeking disqualification of the PPP senator and alleged that the degree of Babar Awan had been proved a fake one. He also submitted that Babar Awan was registered as a voter in Rawalpindi, whereas he resides in Islamabad, and had no property in Rawalpindi.
