The government should undertake emergent measures to discover and develop gas fields in Punjab areas and temporarily purchase gas from Iran and India under barter system to resolve the impending winter season energy crises. This was demanded by Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association (PYMA) Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zone Chairman Abaidullah Sheikh.
He said business and trade would also be affected while the textile industry would be worst hit, he added textile industry is the backbone of the national economy as it is earning 13 billion dollars in foreign exchange from exports.
