Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday reserved its decision on a petition filed by MQM lawmaker against verification of thumb impressions of voters on ballots by Nadra in PS-128 Karachi. MQM MPA Waqar Hussain Shah, who was declared winning candidate on provincial assembly seat (PS-128) moved the court against the verdict of election tribunal regarding verification of thumb impressions on votes cast at polling stations of PS-128 constituency.
The petitioner submitted that election tribunal on September 17, allowed the application of rival candidate of PML-N Sultan Khan Johari and ordered the Nadra for verification of thumb impressions on counterfoils. He said that election tribunal has passed the verdict illegally and unlawfully and requested the court to set aside the verdict of tribunal. The court was also prayed to restrain Nadra from verification of the thumbprints of votes. A division bench of SHC, led by Justice Faisal Arab, reserved the verdict, which will be pronounced later on a date to be fixed by court's office.
