LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah speaking in the Punjab Assembly here Thursday termed 2012 as year of election.

He said that his leader Nawaz Sharif in no context other than constitution has used words of establishment of military courts in the country. He said there was a room for these courts under constitution of the country.

Minister reiterated his point of view that in Punjab Law and order situation was better than other provinces in the country.

He said that suggestions for further improving law and order if came from opposition legislators would be applied in the province.

Opposition leader Raja Riaz, who along with other legislators, went to cut the cake for birthday of their party founder chairman Zulifqar Ali Bhutto in the Governor House, before his departure from Punjab Assembly pointed that PML-N party head had become disappointed on his party meetings, therefore, he was using the words of forming military courts.

He said that the way conspiracy was laid against Zulifqar Ali Bhutto, it was being hatched against Babar Awan.

Opposition legislator criticised the treasury for late holding of the day's session and asked that this practice was undemocratic and uncalled for. He asked the Speaker to take cognizance of the matter of calling late the session and absence of legislators from it.

He called upon the authorities to improve law and order in the province, stating that further improvement was required.

Minority member Pervaiz Rafiq said that minorities were not safe here and in this regard superior courts should take notice, he stressed.

MPA Simel Kamran of the opposition entering the discussion stated that provincial government had left people at the mercy of events. She said that burglaries in houses and roads were rampant and a routine matter.

MPA Amna Ulfat and Sheikh Allaudin speaking in the House about law and order stressed upon improving it.

The House session, which started two-hour late after suppression of agenda discussed law and order and after mentioning of quorum by MPA Atta Manika, was adjourned for Friday morning.
