The country's 50 percent population supported the present government, with 49 percent favouring the opposition and 60 percent favouring the National Assembly, according to the findings of latest survey conducted during August 1-26, 2013 by the International Republican Institute (IRI). The survey by IRI, which works for advancement of democracy world-wide, is a national representative sample of adults from 70 districts in all provinces, excluding Fata and Chitral.
Male, female, illiterate and educated respondents from different income groups were included in the surveys who were asked questions on key areas relating to democracy, elections, etc. About the rating of national institutions, 89 percent favoured army, 80 percent media, 66 percent government schools, 63 percent courts, 61 percent government hospitals, and 29 percent favoured police.
When asked how would you rate the performance of the new PML-N Government?, As many as 10 percent respondents rated the performance of PML-N government as very good, 48 percent rated it as good, 22 percent rated as bad, 11 percent rated as very bad and 9 percent did not reply.
