Termination of 12,000 municipal workers: Sindh government withdraws notification

The Sindh government on Thursday withdrew its notification regarding termination of over 12,000 municipal workers. On Tuesday, the provincial government had issued a notification terminating the employees, mostly hired on contract and ad hoc basis, of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. These employees were hired after June 30, 2012.
The move was criticised by employees unions and they also held a protest demonstration against the government at Civic Centre, Karachi. They demanded of the government to immediately withdraw the notification.
