Punjab Minister for Health Khalil Tahir Sindhu has directed government hospitals management to get the case history of dengue patients from their family physicians, who had treated before and refer to the hospital, as it would be helpful in the treatment in case of serious condition. He also directed that the patient case history with the name of physician should be mentioned in the patient chart.
He said this while talking to media-persons during his visit to Lahore General Hospital and Hameed Latif Hospital on Thursday. During visit to Lahore General Hospital he inquired the dengue patients' health and also asked about the treatment facilities being extended to the dengue patients. All the patients expressed their satisfaction and told that free medical facilities are being provided to the hospital.
Principal PGMI/ LGH Professor Anjum Habib Vohra, Professor Agha Shabbir, MS Dr Amjad Shahzad and other senior doctors were also present on the occasion. Professor Vohra told that 81 confirmed dengue patients current season were brought to the hospital and only seven patients presently under treatment whereas the rest have been discharged after recovery. He said that no causality has occurred due to dengue in LGH.
Khalil Tahir said that due to late coming to the government hospital, the condition of dengue patients had been complicated and doctors faced difficulty for treatment. Therefore, the instructions have been issued to contact the doctor of the patient for getting case history from which the patient was under treatment before coming to the hospital. Meanwhile, Minister also visited Hameed Latif Hospital and inquired after the health of dengue patients where only three patients were under treatment.
The administrator of Hameed Latif told that four patients were under treatment out of them one has been discharged on November 7 and only three patients presently under treatment. Minister Health said that government has obtained the co-operation of private hospitals in the treatment of dengue patients and government will bear the expenses of poor dengue patients admitted in private hospitals.
