Political Agent Bajaur Agency Syed Jabar Shah has said that education is vital for durable development and the local administration is making efforts to improve education standard in the agency. He was talking to a delegation of All Bajaur teachers association on Friday. Jabar said the local administration is taking measures to develop education sector because education is vital for promotion of peace, tolerance and sustainable development.
He said rehabilitation of affected educational institutions and providing basic and modern education facilities in the agency is the top priorities of the administration and all possible means are being used for the purpose. He said the administration with the financial support of federal government and Non-governmental organisation is making efforts to arrange training programme for the teachers of government running educational institutions, which would help to improve standard of education in the agency.
Shah urged the teachers to focus their attention on shaping students' future and should enhance their performance for improving education standard in the agency. The representatives of teacher's community asked the political agent to accelerate efforts to provide basic facilities in the educational institutions in the agency particularly in the militancy-hit areas.
They also urged to initiate a proper monitoring system to monitor the performance of teaching staff of government running school across the agency. Jabar said the administration in collaboration with international organisations has accelerated its efforts for rehabilitation of the damaged schools and so far 40 schools were rebuilt and made several others functional on temporary basis, while work on more schools would be completed soon. He said that the administration was committed to adopt a proper check and balance system in the educational institutions and in this regards an official notification has already been issued to the education department.
