Ziauddin Medical College on Friday formally kicked off its 19th Batch of MBBS programme. For the purpose, Ziauddin University has organised Commencement Day of Batch XIX of MBBS at its main campus to hand over this batch to faculty. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asim Hussian vice chancellor of varsity urged freshers that success could only be achieved through hard work, dedication and commitment to the profession.
"You have been inducted not just as a medical student but as researcher, academician and ethically responsible medical professional. You will begin an exciting journey through the internationally respected medical field that will yield tremendous learning opportunities", he said. He said that modern teaching methods were being employed at Ziauddin University to equip students to tackle the latest challenges presented by the world of medicine.
"Only by adopting professional ethics, values and moral principals in your academic and professional lives, you can attain excellence," he advised the students. He asked the students to approach highest norms of morality. "Unfortunately, nation has lost its direction and you (students) have to set the right path of the nation," Dr Asim said. In his speech, Vice Chancellor Ziauddin University Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui emphasised the importance of knowledge and its application. He said that Ziauddin University's college of Medicine has unique integrated system with modern learning strategies that imparts cutting edge knowledge.
"We need proper number of well qualified healthcare professionals in country", Dr Pirzada said. He said Ziauddin University was amongst the top universities in Pakistan imparting medical education with new methods of learning. Dr Kamran Hameed, Dean Faculty of Ziauddin Medical College and other also spoke on the occasion.
