Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has continued its dengue awareness campaign in all parts of the city. In this regard an activity was conducted in Rehman Pura, Union Council 199, in which an awareness camp was set up in chowk Rehaman Pura. Awareness walk was conducted and leaflets were distributed among citizens. MPA Begum Nasreen Nawaz distributed leaflets and guided the citizens about precautionary measures needed to be taken against dengue.
Afterwards an awareness walk was organised from chowk Rehman Pura to Tainky chowk, which was led by Begum Nasreen Nawaz. She was accompanied by political co-ordinator Salah-ud-Din Papi, Secretary Traders Association Atta Ullah Butt, Assistant Manager Communication LWMC Muhammad Mehdi Shah, Assistant manager communication Muhammad Umair Khan, assistant manager operations Irum Zahra and Zonal officer Ali Raza. A large number of area residents also joined the walk. Teams of social mobilises briefed the citizens about precautionary measures for Dengue epidemic, did door stepping and distributed awareness literature.
In the wake of Dengue eradication campaign LWMC is clearing open plots having heaps of waste. Today around 80plots were cleared and approximately 1300 tons of waste was transferred to dump site Mehmood Booti. Plot clearance operations are being carried out in all parts of the city especially dengue affected areas of Shahdara, Ravi town, Aziz Bhatti town and Wahga town.
LWMC's awareness campaign is in full swing and communication team visits educational institutes of the city which include government and private schools and colleges. Besides delivering lectures and screening videos, community is also engaged to impart awareness at mass level.
