Town wise sub-committees of district peace committee Lahore have been established on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during a special meeting of the District Peace Committee held here on Sunday with the Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan in chair.
The members of these nine sub-committees will ensure an atmosphere of peace and perfect harmony during the second half of Ashura Muharram through co-ordinated efforts of security institutions and co-operation of relevant elected representatives, Ulema of all sects and the masses at large so that law and order would prevail in their respective towns during Muharram-ul-Harram and afterwards.
Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yaseen, Member National Assembly Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, members Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Gulzar Ahmed and Bao Muhammad Akhtar, DCO Lahore Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, SSP (Operations) Rana Abdul Jabbar attended the meeting. Shiah Ulema Alhaj Haider Ali Mirza, Allama Mushtaq Hussain Jaffery, Syed Waqar-ul-Husnain Naqvi, Hafiz Kazim Raza Naqvi, Agha Hussain Qazalbash, Syed Khurram Abbas Naqvi, Syed Muhammad Ali Shamsi, Syed Asad Abbas Naqvi, Allama Tauqeer Hussain Baba, Syed Saadat Abbas Naqvi, Syed Hussain Jaffar Zaidi and Kh. Basharat Hussain Karblai, Ahle Sunnat Ulamah Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, Syed Muhammad Usman Noori, Maulana Mujahid Abdul Rasool Khan, Qari Ghulam Sarwer Awan, Allama Abdul Mustafa Sialvi, Maualana Hussain Ahmed Awan, Maulana Muhammad Bashir Salfi, Hafiz Shoaib-ul-Rehman, Qari Liaqat Ali Siddiqui, Afsar Hussain Khan, Muhammad Imran Yousaf, Skakeel-ul-Rehman Nasir, Sh. Abdul Sattar Qadri and Mian Naseem Ahmed gave several practicable proposals during the meeting to make fool proof arrangements for Majalis-e-Aza and the mourning processions.
It was decided that the members of all sub-committees will maintain a close contact with Ulema Mashaikh of all schools of thought and will pay surprise visits to various Imam Bargahs and routes of the traditional processions to meet the local requirements regarding security measures on daily basis. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, while addressing the participants of the meeting, stress upon the need to maintain religious harmony, brotherhood and law & order during Ashura Muharram and assured that all out resources would be utilised for this purpose. He said the enemy of Pakistan is bent upon undermining the survival of the country and letting go no opportunity in this regard. Nothing could be more important than maintenance of law and order. Therefore, maximum attention has been paid by the Punjab government in this direction. He informed the meeting that additional police force in plainclothes has been deputed at hotels, inns, railway stations and other places while a watchful eye is being kept on suspects during Muharram-ul-Harram besides further improving the security arrangements at sensitive places throughout the province of Punjab. The law enforcement agencies would maintain a closed co-ordination with each other so that immediate and effective action could be taken in case of any untoward incident. He expressed the hope that an atmosphere of peace would prevail in all towns of Lahore city on Yom-e-Ashoor at any cost. Ulema from all sects should exhibit tolerance and join hands to foil the nefarious designs of the common enemy, the Minister added.
The participants offered fateha for the departed souls of three martyrs who embraced Shahadat in an incident of terrorism in Gujranwala, a day before.
