The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will release a total of 90,000 educational vouchers to enable the poor and deserving children to study up to matric level in low-cost private schools partnering with the foundation under its Education Voucher Scheme (EVS). These vouchers will be issued during the current fiscal year in all the 36 districts of the province. An official of the Punjab Education Foundation stated this in a statement issued here on Sunday.
According to the spokesman, 50,000 educational vouchers will be issued to most deserving children living in backward areas of four different districts namely, Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan and Rajanpur. Similarly, another 40 thousand vouchers will be issued to most deserving children identified by the partner schools in different districts of the province. However, these vouchers will be released after PEF staff's verification and fulfillment of the PEF criterion, spokesman added. Thus, a total of 90 thousand additional students will be enable to study up to matric level in private partner schools near to their homes and this will especially benefit the girls who cannot go too far flung schools for want of resources. The Education Voucher Scheme is a unique program of the foundation which is designed to provide totally free quality education to the poor children at their doorsteps so that they may not left behind due to lack of resources and change their destiny through education. Under this scheme, PEF helps in shape of free text books and monthly fee, concluded the spokesman.
