Punjab Minister for Education and Youth Affairs Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has announced to patronise the "Talib-e-Aman" project in public sector and private universities of Punjab province. He said this while addressing students from five universities located in all the provinces of Pakistan who participated in a three-day Youth Advocates for Peace training workshop of the trainers of "Talib-e-Aman" project on Tuesday.
He said that these students will promote inter-cultural and ideological harmony among the students of their respective universities and will give awareness to the fellow students from different cultural, religious, ethnic and socio-economic background in this regard. United Nation Alliance of Civilisation will collaborate in this project through Youth Solidarity Fund, the minister added.
He claimed that the PML-N government firmly believes in active participation of youth in policy making, management, implementation and monitoring of public welfare projects. This needs the spirit to learn from elders and PML-N leadership is ready to impart essential knowledge about inter-cultural dialogue, responsible citizenship, inclusiveness and conflict resolution and mediation skills to the youth under the age of 29 years which comprises 64 percent population of Pakistan.
He said the youngsters are harbingers of change in any society and no doubt, the future leadership always comes from the youth. The minister elaborated the important steps taken by the Punjab government to inculcate patriotism and to build the capacity of the youngsters. Participation of students selected from the different five universities of Pakistan is an evidence of our efforts in positive direction.
The minister distributed commendatory certificates among the students from Punjab University, University of Karachi, University of Balochistan, Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar University and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad besides students coming from the universities of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik and former Justice Nasira Javed Iqbal also attended the occasion.
