The administration in the sensitive district Hangu has clamped three-day curfew on the Hangu city. The city would remain under curfew from November 14 to 16th (Muharram 9th to 11th). Similarly, mobile service has also been suspended in the city while aerial monitoring of the city would also be carried out on Muharram 9th and 10th.
Meanwhile, the mourning processions of Muharram 9th in Peshawar were taken out amid tight security arrangements by the district administration and law enforcement agencies. The main procession was taken out from Husseinia Hall, Saddar Road, Cantonment area, which after passing through its traditional route culminated peacefully.
On this occasion, tight security arrangements were made and all roads leading to the route of the procession were sealed and no one was allowed to enter the area without body search. Mobile phone service also remained suspended in several parts of the city. Similarly, all entries to the city were also sealed with barbed wires while police personnel deployed on the entry points were carrying body search of the people entering the sensitive areas.
The trading community in the wake of security risks announced three-day shutter down and except the shops of essential food items like milk and vegetables all shops remained closed. The administration has taken foolproof security measures for maintenance of law and order on Ashura and besides banning pillion ridding the entry of Afghan refugees has also been prohibited to the city.
Furthermore, in an extraordinary security measures, the district administration Peshawar under section 144 CrPC ordered and prohibited business of Hotels and Sarais in Peshawar Cantonment. Anyone found violating this order shall be proceeded against under section 188 PPC. This order would come into force forthwith and remain enforced for 04 days from Muharram 7th to 10th, unless modified or withdrawn.
