The six-day strike by goods transporters has proved to be the disastrous for the industry sector as Hub Industrial Estate and industrial (HITE) units in Lasbela have to suffer a monstrous loss of Rs 400 to Rs 500 million.
The President Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ismail Suttar said in a statement that at this juncture when the industrial sector was already suffering badly due to the various reasons and ever increasing cost of doing business, the frequent strikes by the transporters and other hurdles for industries, it has really become tough to continue with the production and keep the industrial wheel running.
He said that having more distance from the Karachi Port and Port Qasim the industries have to spend more on freight to ship the export consignments. He said that the industrialists in HITE have to pay advance freight to the goods transporters and many of them have to lose that money as well due to the long strike stretched to almost one week. He said that government high ups should have resolved the issues of the stakeholders in the first place in order to avoid unnecessary monetary losses to the industry and national exchequer as well.-PR
