Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab has on Saturday made an eight-point demand, which include holding of local government elections in Punjab on approved date (January 30) and it should not be postponed. While addressing a party meeting, PTI Punjab President Punjab Ejaz Chaudhary, General Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid and Information Secretary Punjab Andleeb Abbas welcomed the rescheduling of local government elections and added that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should prudently utilise the time to ensure free and fair elections.
Both the ECP and the government should remove all the flaws that surfaced during the recent general elections, they added. In this regard, they proposed an eight-point demand, which includes: the elections should be held on the new date; candidates should be given right to appeal against wrong delimitations of union councils; a strict regulations should be drafted for the elections and it should be shared with all the stakeholders; and nomination forms should be printed in Urdu and not in English. They told the meeting that PTI had have selected good candidates in Punjab who will give a very tough time to all the parties. The Punjab government will be defeated in its goal of bringing the local government under the provincial government control.
