Karachi Clash Live Updates: Lyari Aman Committee protesters allowed to proceed to Bilawal House
KARACHI: Representatives of the Lyari Peoples Aman Committee, after being baton-charged by the police, and holding a sit-in at the Shaheen Complex, were finally allowed to proceed to Bilawal House to register their demands. Earlier, they said that they will not move till they are allowed to proceed to Bilawal House and their demands met.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faisal Raza Abidi said that the police baton-charged peaceful protesters. The police baton-charged the Lyari Peoples Aman Committee protesters over their demand of addressing issues of Lyari residents and restoring peace in the city amongst several others.
Law enforcement agencies were deployed on I.I. Chundrigar Road to prevent the Aman Committee protesters from proceeding to Bilawal House. They also apprehended over 30 demonstrators.
Police and protesters aslo exchanged fire during clashes.
Earlier, police had cordonned off the Shaheen Complex road.
