Army continued to control law order situation on Sunday as sectarian tension prevailed in Multan, Chishtian, Haroonabad and Chiniot. Muhammad Waris (17) succumbed to his wounds in Nishtar Hospital, his parents and relatives staged a demo. Regional Police Officer Malik Muhammad Amin Vance said that situation was improving rapidly in the city. Five miscreants were taken into custody while a case was instituted against 200 protestors on the charge of burning three motor cycles, manhandling the police on duty and creating disturbance.
DCO Multan Zahid Saleem Gondal, has imposed Section 144 on the city. Dr.Muhammad Ashiq Malik, Medical Superintendent, of Nishtar Hospital told that total 25 person ere taken to emergency including five policemen. One of them in critical condition.
Shia protestors ended their sit-in after midnight at Razabad, Daulat gate and Suraj Miani. Similarly Sunnis ended their sit-in at Chowk Kutchehry. Some miscreants pelted stones at Imam Bargah Hussainabad (daulat gate) after midnight but police controlled the situation.
All markets in walled city, Ghanta Ghar, Hussain Agahi, Chowk Bazar, Haram gate, Pak-gate, Kalay Mandi, Shaheen Market, Nishat road, Loha Market, Chowk Shaheedan, Lohari gate, Delhi gate, Sarafa Bazar ,Daulat gate remained closed. However other markets, shopping centres remained open. DSP Police Chishtian said that 13 people were injured in the town similarly four injured in Haroonabad.
