Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) will organise a public meeting against the continued drone attacks inside Pakistan and Nato supplies on November 24 (Sunday) at Hasan Square and JI Chief Syed Munawar Hassan will address the meeting.
This announcement was made by JI Karachi Chief Engineer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman while addressing a press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq, here on Sunday. Naeem informed media that JI would demand the government during the meeting to pull the country out of the so-called war on terror as it was not Pakistan's war.
He further said that camps would be set-up in different areas of the city in connection with the public meeting. "It has been proved that the ongoing war on terror is not Pakistan's war and the government and army should announce to detach them from this war," he added.
JI Karachi Chief said that the country's economy had borne a loss of $100 billion due to the so-called war and over 50,000 people had been killed.
"The United States of America has never been a friend of Pakistan and it did not honour its agreement with Pakistan in 1971 war and supported India," he informed. Hafiz Naeem emphasised that the dialogue with Taliban should be started forthwith and the government should take serious initiative in this regard. "Despite the fact that a consensus was reached on holding talks with the Taliban at the recently held All Parties Conference (APC) and a resolution was approved unanimously by the National Assembly in this regard, the process has no yet been started," he added.
To a question, Hafiz Naeem said that the JI was playing its role to create religious harmony among the different sects. The JI leader regretted the loss of precious lives in Rawalpindi incident. Hafiz Naeem strongly condemned Rawalpindi incident and demanded transparent inquiry and exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in the incident.-PR
