Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said that the rulers were bent upon selling off more than three dozen national institutions to their kith and kin on throw away prices but the nation would strongly resist it. He was talking to the heads of JI's sister bodies at Mansoora, said a press statement issued here on Sunday.
While criticising the Rawalpindi incident as evidence of the government's failure and incompetence, Munawar said the government claim of a foolproof security on Ashura had proved to be hollow. He said the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi had turned into centres of CIA, Black Water and RAW due to which the whole country was on the tip of volcano which could erupt any moment.
He emphasised upon the government not to blindly believe in the "all ok reports" of the agencies and adopt effective measures to protect the people from foreign and internal terrorists.
He said the PML-N leadership had made promises to the nation to build the country's economy and improve the lot of the masses, but no concrete effort had so far been made in this direction.
Instead of checking corruption in the institutions, the government was eager to privatise major institutions, which was creating discomfort and disappointment among the workers, he said and warned that if the government tried to deprive the workers of their jobs through sale of institutions, JI would take to streets in protest.
