A send-off ceremony was organised by Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) here in a local hotel on Monday to dispatch a 12-member team of medical professional to Japan for training on "Infectious Diseases Control Course". In his address to trainees, Senior Representative of JICA, Motoo Taki said that infectious diseases control is a big and worthy challenge for Pakistan.
Therefore, it would be quite beneficial for trainees to learn about public health activities in Japan including epidemiology activity, HIV epidemic, rural administration of public health and nursing, he added. "Since 1991, this training programme has dispatched around 500 participants from Pakistan to Japan, and acknowledged now as an important event to strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and Japan", he mentioned.
The training course for young leaders of Pakistan is initiated by the Government of Japan under technical co-operation scheme for Pakistan. The course has been designed essentially for young experts of the provincial and federal governments in Pakistan. It is expected to enhance and polish the capabilities of the participants in the field of infectious diseases control through the Japanese experience, which is already established in the health sector. Dr Umar, a dermatologist from Quetta said that the course will provide an opportunity to learn Japanese experience to control infectious disease.
