The Karachi Port handled 82,105 tonnes of cargo comprising 61,078 tonnes of import cargo and 21,027 tonnes of export cargo including 2,587 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 61,078 tonnes comprised of 22,143 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,664 tonnes of general cargo; 37,271 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,493 tonnes of coal; 16,285 tonnes of DAP; 1,602 tonnes of MAP and 1,105 tonnes of seeds.
The total export cargo of 21,027 tonnes comprised of 18,336 tonnes of containerised cargo; 38 tonnes of general cargo; 1,723 tonnes of cement and 930 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,587 containers comprising 1,506 containers import and 1,081 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 606 of 20's and 431 of 40's loaded while 4 of 20's and 17 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 580 of 20's and 119 of 40's loaded containers while 127 of 20's and 68 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are six ships namely Kota Anggerik, Hyundai Jakarta, Kota Ganteng, Wan Hai 503, MSC Kerry and Yuan Hang carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are seven vessels viz MSC Kerry, Tasanee, Sagamore, Venezia, APL Sokhna, Oriental Freesia and Common Faith carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Tasanee, Sagamore and Ince Anadolu carrying containers and seeds sailed out to sea on Friday, while four ships namely Venezia, Captain Costas, Vinaship Pearl and Moonray carrying containers, MAP and coal respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There are three vessels viz OOCL Texas, DL Violet and Azalea Ace carrying containers, chemical and vehicles respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz Rio Charleston and Marika carrying containers and mogas respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 44,529 tonnes includes 16,089 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 3,360 tonnes of coal and 15,580 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,548 tonnes includes 7,058 tonnes of cement and 21,489 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,951 containers comprising 820 containers import and 1,131 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV Kerstin-S and MT Al-Soor-II with containers and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV APL Oman with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV Kerstin-S, CV APL Oman, MV CMB Coralie, MV Ellens Borg, MV Lito, MV Al-Naser, Maritime MT Suzanne and MT Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, sunflower seeds, coal, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely Beacon Sin, Elini-D, Theo Flaktos, Al-Naser, Al-Soor-II, Ocean Brother, Oceanus-9 and Maritime Suzanne carrying wheat, sunflower seeds, diesel oil, coal, Fertilizer, LPG and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are two vessels viz CV MSC Kerry and MT Karachi with containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There are three ships namely CV MSC Clementina, MV Atlantic Glory and MV SC Qingdao carrying containers and chemicals due to arrive on Friday, while another ship namely CV Maersk Pittsburgh with containers is due to arrive on Saturday.
