Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Monday and the equities registered gains across the boars amid improved trading turnover. The LSE-25 index posted a gain of 37.10 points to close at 4672.50 against 4635.40 of last Friday, while transaction volume was improved to 1.921 million shares compared with previous volume of 1.167 million shares.
The market was opened on a healthy sign and kept on moving up throughout the day, as investors stayed on buying course and made entries in blue chips and ready board shares. Buying in Pakistan Oil Fields, Engro Corporation, Dawood Hercules Corporation, Fauji Fertilizer, Engro Foods, National Bank, Highnoon Laboratories, Kohinoor Sugar Mills, Sui Northern, Nishat Chunian, Maple Leaf Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Hub Power and PIA helped market sentiments.
However, Adamjee Insurance, Pakistan Reinsurance, Huffaz Seamless Pipes, KASB Bank, Pak Elektron and Bank of Punjab were ended with marginal declines. The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 98 active issues, 32 companies posted gains, nine stayed in negative zone, while 57 companies remained unchanged at their previous closing.
Pakistan Oil Fields gained Rs 16.34, Highnoon Laboratories was improved by Rs 5.95, while Engro Corporation and Engro Foods were up by Rs 2.87 and Rs 2.00, respectively.
In the negative column, Mitchells Fruit Farms lost Rs 20.92, while Adamjee Insurance and Huffaz Seamless Pipes were declined by 80-paisa and 10-paisa, respectively.
Lafarge Pakistan Cement with trading of 581,500 shares topped the volume leaders followed by PTCL with 354,500 shares.
