Ameer, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan has said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has fully exposed secret agencies, mostly behind the missing persons. The JI Ameer expressed these view during his visit to the camp set-up by the families of missing persons of Balochistan, outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Naib Ameer Rafeeq Shaikh, General Secretary JI Karachi Abdul Wahab, Nazima JI Women Wing Rana Fazal also accompanied the JI chief. Talking to the media persons on the occasion, Syed Munawar Hasan said that the families of missing persons had written history by covering 750 kilometers distance on foot, from Balochistan to Karachi whereas the rulers and the agencies remained totally unmoved.
Syed Munawar Hasan pointed out that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had given assurances for the recovery of the missing persons of Balochistan, but after coming to power, he had not taken any step in this direction. He said all those responsible for the lifting of the missing persons are playing with democracy and the sentiments of the affected families.
The JI Ameer urged the PML-N workers and voters to stage protests before their leadership in missing persons' cases. He vowed that JI would stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of missing persons till their recovery.
He met the families of the missing persons from Balochistan including Mama Qadeer Baloch, who thanked the JI Ameer and other JI leaders and Begum Aamina Janjua, chief of the Defence of Human Rights, Pakistan, for visiting the camp and expressing solidarity with them. He said the abductions of the missing persons in Balochistan had begun during the regime of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) in the year 2001, while the situation worsened during the PPP government headed by Zardari.
On the occasion, Mama Qadeer appealed to the human rights bodies to play their role for the recovery of the missing people in Balochistan. Begum Aamina Janjua disclosed that as many as 320 more persons had gone missing during the last two months, while the government had failed to honour its commitment in this regard. Chairperson Pakistan People's Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Ghanwa Bhutto also spoke on the occasion.
