PGJDC-logoKARACHI: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) held a meeting with the major players of the Gems & Jewellery sector to discuss the upcoming Pakistan International Gems and Jewellery Exhibition 2013, here on Thursday at PGJDC head office in Regent Plaza Hotel and Convention Center. 

 

The meeting chaired by Seemen Siddiqui, Chairperson PGJDC was attended by CEO PGJDC Bakhtiar Khan and other major stakeholder of the Gems and Jewellery sector. 

 

Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) successfully organized Pakistan International Gems & Jewellery Exhibition (PIGJE) in June, 2012. The exhibition had 78 exhibitors from all over Pakistan and was visited 40 delegates (trade bodies and buyers) from India, U.A.E, U.K, Sri Lanka, USA, Hong Kong and France. 

 

To carry upon the success of the 2012 event and make it a regular feature, PGJDC has decided to host the second Pakistan International Gems and Jewellery Exhibition from 9th – 12th May, 2013. 

 

PIGJE 2013 will be a four day extravaganza showcasing the best of Pakistan’s Gems & Jewellery products, both traditional and contemporary class. For the first time International exhibitors will also be allowed to display their products. Additionally, an array of machinery, equipments, tools, consumables and allied products related to Gems and Jewellery will also be at display by international manufacturers and companies during the exhibition. 

 

In view of the main purpose of the event; to highlight Pakistani gems and jewellery products in the most versatile manner, PGJDC arranged a meeting of PIGJE 2012’s exhibitor and other major players of the sector. 

 

The Company’s main agenda of the moot was to brief the sector representatives on measures taken to make 2013 Exhibition more productive and successful. The meeting also served as a platform to take sector’s suggestion for the forthcoming event and identify the issues/shortcomings they faced in PIGJE 2012. 

 

PGJDC justly noted their concerns and suggestion of the sector representatives. Mr. Bakhtiar Khan, CEO PGJDC,  assured the sector representatives that measures are being taken to incorporate a more holistic and effective promotional strategy for the upcoming event. He further added that TV channels and newspapers are being approached to form a mutually beneficial media partnership of the exhibition. Audiences were also apprised that trade related international magazines and journals will also be contacted to cover the event. 

 

Seemen Siddiqui informed the sector representatives that their suggestion of a fashion show during the event – to rightfully showcase Pakistani product for international delegates – is also being incorporated in PIGJE 2013. She highlighted the importance of a fashion show to generate international business and added that the complete information of the show will be shared with the sector in due time. 

 

The views of the participants were also noted on how an enabling environment can be created both for local and international traders to interact and promote business. All the suggestion of the sector were thoroughly discussed and duly noted for incorporation and implementation. 

 

PGJDC will carry out similar exercise in other major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Gilgit to create awareness about the upcoming event and take suggestions from the stake holders to make PIGJE 2013 a success. 

 

Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company is the subsidiary of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation under Ministry of Production, Government of Pakistan. The charter of the Company is to enhance the value chain productivity of gems and jewellery industry of Pakistan from mine to market. The Company aims to increase exports through facilitation, technology up-gradation, skill development and marketing/branding initiatives. With adequate support from Government of Pakistan, PGJDC is successfully realizing these objectives and providing required infrastructure for the gems and jewellery industry of Pakistan.
