Xiaomi beats Oppo to be world’s fourth largest smartphone vendor
Smartphone brand Oppo, which was the world’s fourth largest smartphone vendor, has now been beaten by Xiaomi.
A recently released report by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows a fall in smartphone shipments in China that ultimately led to a fall in global smartphone market by 2.9%.
The report showed that 2018’s first quarter has not been totally good and the shipments have declined when compared to 2017’s first quarter. However, brands like Huawei and Xiaomi gained too.
OPPO ranked second largest smartphone manufacturer
Samsung still remains at top with 78.2 million units shipped having a total market share of 23.4%, which is a fall of 2.4% compared with 2017. Apple remained second with 52.2 million units and a market share of 15.6% with a rise of 2.8% as compared to 2017. The third was taken by Huawei with 39.3 million phone shipments having a market share of 11.8% with an increase of 13.8% as compared to 2017.
However, the greatest gainer was Xiaomi. The company’s shipments jumped a huge number from 14.8 million units in Q1 2017 to 28 million units in Q1 2018, with a market share of 8.4% with an increase of 87.8%. Oppo’s stats, on the other hand declines 7.5% with 23.9 million shipped units and a 7.1% market share. The company thus, moved to fifth position in the rankings.
