Health employees, working under the National HIV/AIDS control programme, on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration here outside press club, against non-payment of the salaries for last eight months. The protest was headed by Tahir Khan, a health worker, along with dozens of other employees and health workers, serving under the National AIDS/HIV control programme.
The protesters were holding placards and banner, inscribed anti-government and against high officials of the provincial health department. Talking to media persons Tahir Khan said that the funds has been allocated for the programme in the current financial budget 2013-14, while a PC-I has also been prepared but the provincial government and health department are using delaying tactics in its approval. "Employees are working without payment for the last eight months, due to step-motherly attitude of the government and health department in the province, he alleged. He said they had also raised issue with provincial health secretary, and made a promise to ensure release of salaries to employees by end of December last year, but the decision was yet not to be implemented due to which suffering poor employees. He warned that if the government was not ensured payment to employees forthwith, they would set-up a protest camp outside the secretary health office, and would extend the protest to other parts of the province.
